Wars and Rumors of Wars

It appears the perfect storm could be brewing on the world stage.  Talks of war involving the nations of the United States, Russia, Syria, Israel, North Korea, and China sounds like it is scripted straight from the book of revelation.   According to senior U.S. intelligence officials, the U.S. is preparing to launch a preemptive weapons strike against North Korea if it appears that North Korea is conducting its promised nuclear weapons test.

The intelligence officials further state that President Trump has diverted the USS Carl Vinson and two destroyers capable of shooting Tomahawk cruise missiles along the Korean peninsula, just 300 miles from the North Korean nuclear test site.  American heavy bombers are also positioned in Guam to could attack North Korea should it be necessary.

North Korean leadership has shown categorically no sign or interest in diplomacy or dialogue with any of the countries involved in this issue,” according to Victor Cha, the Korea Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

On Wednesday, North Korea issued a statement threatening to “hit the U.S. first” with a nuclear weapon should there be any signs of U.S. strikes.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday is was necessary to prevent the situation on the Korean peninsula from going down an “irreversible route.”

The holy scriptures inform the believers of Jesus Christ concerning the end of the age.  It reads that the last days will be filled with wars and rumors of wars, among other signs.  What is at hand may be a rumor of war or World War III, but it is imperative the sons and daughters of God pray for wisdom, and stand erect in troubled times.  The world should bear witness to our resolve, for this is not our home, and we have a blessed assurance of something greater to come.   Troubling times are not fun, but during such times more hearts are open to receive the gospel, and that’s reason enough for joy.
