Israelis Move Toward New Temple

Most Orthodox Jews believe in the rebuilding of a Third Temple and the recommencement of sacrificial worship.  Orthodox scholars and rabbinic authorities generally believe that rebuilding should occur in the era of the coming Jewish Messiah. Many Christians also believe the third temple is a sign of the last days.  It is in this temple where biblical prophecy states the anti-Christ will assume the temple throne, and claim that he is God.  After nearly two thousand years, it appears Jerusalem is one step closer to rebuilding the temple.

The Nascent Sanhedrin has recommended a high priest for the new temple.  Earlier this year, the Temple Institute announced a search for a select group of male kohanim, members of the Jewish priestly class, qualified to perform animal sacrifices.

“The only obstacle preventing the Temple service today is the political issue. If that should suddenly change, as it very well could, we would be required to begin the Temple service immediately. It is therefore necessary that we have a candidate prepared to fill the role of the high priest, especially now that we have kohanim prepared to serve in the Temple.”

The actual rebuilding of the Temple will be fraught with political opposition, but it is exciting to watch the prophecy of the scriptures unfold before us.
